UK Organic food industry is moving from niche to mainstream markets

This in my eyes is bad news. Very bad news. "Mainstream" means big corporations trying to make as much profit as possible. This means producing at lowest cost possible, working around requirements etc. Mainstream food industries will use their power to influence the organic certification regulations. This will automatically lead to a watering down of the organic idea. The consumer trusts (or relies) on the organic label. In the hands of marketing departments this organic label will become meaningless. Same as the "100% Fat Free" or the "Heart Foundation Tick" on our processed "healthy - yeah right" food.
