I saw it coming
Social media, quite an odd term itself. It became quite predictable to a level where it gets boring.
It started with a news article about the water source of a Northland town. Algae bloom made it unusable for now. Algae bloom can have different reasons. The most likely is an increase in nutrition in the water combined with an increase in water temperature.
According to "social media experts" it is caused by the use of glyphosate which is the sole fault of Monsanto combined with the useless councils of either the district or the region. You take your pick. 1080 was mentioned, too. No surprise.
It is called social media bingo. Everytime things like "Monsanto", "1080", "Roundup", "Council" - you get the picture - is mentioned you collect points.
Social media had the potential to become a great resource. To bring people together, to make human interaction incredible powerful. Sadly the users are more interested in chem trails, how the government is poisoning us and that all scientists are corrupt without exception. Besides "funny" memes and pictures of puppies and kittens.
We missed our chance. Will there be another one?
