Unexpected effects I
We tend to ignore the impact of something has on the system if that something seems to have mainly benefits to us. Everything has an impact. We live in a closed system. We can’t generate anything out of thin air.
Here is an example
Alternative energy. Wind and solar. We behave as if they have no impact at all on our environment. But according to nature’s law they do have an impact. We remove energy from a closed system. Wind turbines slow down air movements which has a proven impact on the climate close by. Big scale solar plants remove energy in the form of heat which has an impact.
We make the same mistakes again. 100 or more years ago we thought burning coal or oil is a great thing and won’t get us into trouble. Now we think the same about new alternative energy sources. We keep using energy as if there is no tomorrow. We don’t invest the same amount of resources into less energy consumption as we do in generating more energy. Do we risk that there will be no tomorrow?
